The business started as a sole trader and then over time, as we acquired more clients, we built a team, incorporated the business, and moved into offices. From this journey, we have first-hand experience of the journey that many of our clients have travelled.

As a small business ourselves, we have faced and resolved many of the challenges that businesses go through and we have grown stronger as a result. Working with so many clients across many different industries is also an amazing learning experience. This valuable insight into other businesses helps us to create solutions that work in the real world.

As a Xero Gold partner, our ability to view our own financial performance improved and greatly benefited our own business and help our clients achieve similar results.

So in our bookkeeping, we offer so much more than processing your figures. We work in partnership with you so, together, we can identify areas for improvement, come up with practical solutions and then monitor progress to get the desired results.

For our payroll clients, we become your payroll department, closely and seamlessly integrated into your organisation, keeping you fully informed and your employees happy. For accountancy firms, we offer a white-labelled payroll service to enable them to offer payroll as an additional service to their clients. By working as an invisible extension to their accountancy business, their clients are completely unaware that a third party is involved.

Clare Haynes - CJ Bookkeeping

Clare Haynes – Director
Clare is the founder of CJ Bookkeeping. Having built up the practice from a sole trader to a Ltd company with 6 employees Clare has met many challenges that business owners face and is passionate about passing those learnings onto clients.
As a business owner herself, Clare understands fully that the accounts are the heart of any business and how it is hard for many business owners to let go of this very key area of the business, but it’s critical to the business to put this in the hands of the experts. For this very reason, Clare is passionate about building relationships and partnerships with clients and accountants alike to ensure she and the team become an integral part of each client’s business.

Jaqui Ibbotson – Client Account Manager
Jacqui joined the team at CJ Bookkeeping in 2018 having spent more than 25 years in accounting roles.
As a self-confessed natural born planner and organiser, Jacqui enjoys helping clients to identify what is currently working and what new processes to implement to help streamline their accounting procedures.
Jacqui loves getting to know and work with multiple clients as it means the job is always varied and enables her to constantly learn and develop knowledge that she can then pass on. Jacqui understands that every client is different and needs a unique service.

Sam Aris - CJ Bookkeeping

Sam Aris – Bookkeeper
Sam joined CJ Bookkeeping in July 2019 as a trainee bookkeeper. During his first year, he completed his AAT Level 2 Qualification Accounting, with the highest pass rate (amazing achievement Sam!), and immediately moved on to AAT Level 3 – there’s just no stopping him!
Sam’s main role is as support to the Client Managers, helping with the compiling of data for compliance tasks, but also supports in cost analysis work and is a whizz at it too!
Outside of work, Sam competes in Athletics and football. Sam is the 800m Northamptonshire County Champion for 2017 & 2019 and has competed for his club at both the regional and national level. Another achievement to be very proud of!

Sandra Crawford – Payroll Manager
Joining the team in 2020, Sandra assists with the ever-growing list of payroll clients CJ Bookkeeping are taking on. With 40 years’ experience within payroll and HR Sandra has worked with a vast number of businesses and industries handling large payrolls. She is perfectly placed to keep on top of all the relevant compliance works in addition to the payroll processing, of which there are many when you have so many payroll clients, so we rely on Sandra to keep us all in check and compliant.

Jessica Kirby - CJ Bookkeeping

Jessica Kirby – Client Account Manager
Jessica has been a part of the CJ Bookkeeping team since July 2017. Jessica is a level 4 AAT qualified accounts expert with 20 years of experience.
Jessica is our Management Accounts specialist and looks after the clients that require very detailed management accounts packages for their board of Directors meetings. Jessica also plays a key role in ‘wrapping up’ clients year-end accounts before handing over to the accountants to complete the tax planning and filing to Companies House.

Jo Sutch – Client Account Manager
Jo has been a part of the CJ Bookkeeping team since April 2019, bringing an additional 20 years’ experience to the team.
Jo is great at keeping our clients in check, ensuring they have constant live financial data at the click of a button. Jo’s specialist area is reviewing and monitoring the financial information to communicate the financial situation to the clients in a way they understand and therefore appreciate, rather than just handing over a bunch of reports and leaving the client to decipher for themselves!

Software we use

Below are the core software elements we use in our own digital bookkeeping practice.  We then bolt-on additional software to best compliment our business practice and the processes we have put in place.

We, therefore, recommend these same software platforms to our clients as the base of their business accounting system and assist in the setup.  We then build on these initial platforms to create bespoke accounting processes for each client’s business, or to help the operational processes and the workflow into the accounts.
